What we talk about
No more nice girls - a plea for womens safety
Hi from ReadyHer, today we are speaking about it being OK to be a bit “bitchy”
In a world still permeated by outdated gender stereotypes, we are often expected to be unfailingly kind, accommodating, and pleasant. But why should we constantly wear a smile when reality often needs a different approach?
Having said that, it's time to discuss the fact that we don't always have to be nice, especially when it comes to our safety. And why is that you may ask? Because women are repeatedly targeted simply because of their gender. Picture this: men casually strolling down the street, enjoying themselves without the fear of a car pulling over, loud comments being hurled their way, or inquiries about personal plans for the night. Or another scenario, men going out to a bar for an after-work drink… no problem there, right? On the other hand, women in the same situation. I don’t even think that we must elaborate!
Unfortunately, women frequently experience unsolicited attention, unwelcome remarks, and even dangerous situations as part of their daily lives.
But here's the thing: we can take our safety into our own hands:
-
Say “NO” and leave a situation that does not feel right. If it doesn’t feel right - it probably isn’t. Don’t stay just to be nice.
-
Ladies, make eye contact when someone approaches you and show them that they can’t sneak up on you.
-
Be fierce, be confident. Let your body language speak volumes – head high, shoulder back, hands out of your pockets, ready for anything.
Women have the right to move through the world just as freely as men. Safety should not be contingent on gender stereotypes, but since it is, we must take matters in our hands and get ready to be ready. We all need to be able to live the motto: Not me. Not today.
It's time to create a culture where women are not targeted simply because of their gender. It's time for respect, equality, and, above all, safety for all women so they can live without the fear of harassment. Ladies, let your strength and confidence pave the way for change.

Smart Defense - Equipping women for real-world safety
"Smart Defense: Equipping Women for Real-World Safety"
In a reality where 1 in 4 women face sexual assault in their lifetime, the need for women's safety education is clear and urgent. At ReadyHer Self-Defense, we recognize that being educated about awareness and safety isn't just a nicety; it's a modern imperative.
Facing the Reality: A Practical Approach
Let's face the harsh truth: assaults happen, and women need practical tools to deal with them. Our seminars focus on real-world strategies that enhance the chances of not becoming a target and, more importantly, increase the odds of getting away if an attack occurs.
No Room for Obliviousness: The Power of Awareness
Being aware of one's surroundings is a fundamental part of staying safe. Women who know what's happening around them are better equipped to recognize and avoid potential threats. It's not about paranoia; it's about smart defense.
Trusting Instincts: A Quick Response System
We emphasize trusting instincts as a rapid-response system.

That gut feeling is often the first signal that something isn't right. Educated women can react swiftly, making split-second decisions that could be the difference between safety and harm.
Plan of Action: Preparedness as Empowerment
Empowerment comes from having a plan. Our seminars help women create practical strategies – from knowing safe routes to understanding how to react in different situations. Preparedness is a game-changer.
Physical Know-How: Striking Back with Confidence
Knowing where, when, and how to attack the attacker physically is a critical aspect of self-defense. Women armed with this knowledge not only feel confident in their ability to protect themselves but also in embracing their femininity without compromise.
In a world where statistics paint a grim picture, women's safety education isn't just a precaution; it's a smart, pragmatic approach to navigating the realities of life. It's about arming women with the tools and mindset to stay safe in an unpredictable world.

Empowerment in action
At ReadyHer, we believe in the strength that is within every woman, no matter her size. 🚺
Imagine a powerful scene: a petite woman delivering a front kick to a towering figure. It's not just about the physical kick; it's about the indomitable spirit, the unwavering determination, and the unyielding mindset that fuels her actions.

Ladies, take a moment to reflect on this image – it's a testament to the idea that true strength comes from within. In life, as in self-defense, it's not about dwelling on the challenges or attacks you may face. It's about cultivating a mindset focused on what you can do, on your capabilities, and on your power to turn the tables.
Remember, it's not the size of the woman in the fight, but the size of the fight in the woman. Embrace the mindset that overcomes obstacles, and let determination be your driving force.
Stand tall, stand strong, and let readyHer be your ally in cultivating the mindset that propels you forward. Together, we rise! 1

Not me. Not today, because safety is a right.
In our work at ReadyHer, we hear countless stories from women who have faced the unimaginable—physical or verbal attacks that shake their sense of safety. Some have managed to overcome their trauma, finding strength and resilience, while others continue to live in fear, wondering if their safety will be compromised again. These stories remind us of a harsh reality: even in modern times, being female can make you a target.
It’s an uncomfortable truth many would prefer to dismiss. After all, shouldn’t our progress as a society mean women can move freely, without fear of harassment or harm? Unfortunately, the world doesn’t always work that way. And not all of us want to dedicate hours to self-defense classes or intense physical training. Some of us just want to feel confident and informed—to know how to avoid becoming a target and, in the worst-case scenario, how to escape a dangerous situation.
That’s where ReadyHer comes in. Our mission is to empower women with the knowledge and awareness they need to navigate their daily lives safely. Our seminars are designed for all ages and physical abilities, focusing on practical, actionable strategies that can make a real difference. We teach women how to recognize and avoid potential threats and what to do if they find themselves in harm’s way.
But our work goes beyond instruction—it’s about creating a space where women feel heard, supported, and, most importantly, equipped to reclaim their sense of security. Safety is not a luxury; it’s a right. And by providing women with these tools, we aim to help them move through the world with confidence and freedom.
If you’re a business owner, HR professional, or leader in your organization’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts, consider offering ReadyHer seminars to the women on your team. It’s not just a gesture of goodwill; it’s a powerful investment in their safety and well-being. Together, we can create environments where women feel supported and equipped to live fearlessly.
Let’s work towards a world where stories of fear and trauma are replaced with ones of strength, freedom, and confidence. Because every woman deserves to feel safe—no exceptions.

AND SOMETIMES... ITS A PERSONAL STORY
As the co-owner of ReadyHer, a company focused on women’s awareness and self-defense, I’ve often found myself reflecting on the personal experiences that have shaped my passion for what we do. I don’t share much content on social media—partly because the stories we hear are deeply personal, and our proprietary training methods are designed to protect our clients. However, I want to share a personal story that underscores why our work at ReadyHer is so important.
It was an early summer evening, and my family and I—my husband and our two adult sons—were enjoying snacks and drinks at a local pub. The atmosphere was light and pleasant, and we were having a great time together. Nearby, a group of men at another table began commenting on my tattoos. Their remarks weren’t overtly offensive, and we decided to ignore them and focus on our evening.
Later, I excused myself to go to the restrooms. As I walked inside, I couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was following me. Sure enough, as I waited in line for the unisex restrooms, I noticed one of the men from the other table standing nearby. He had followed me and began approaching me in an uncomfortable way. I immediately asked him to step back and leave me alone. My words were clear and firm, but he continued, undeterred by my verbal boundaries or the unmistakable "dead stare" I gave him.
When he made the mistake of placing his hand on me, I’d had enough. A simple, well-placed elbow to his ribs was all it took to make him stumble and back off. He quickly left the scene, likely nursing a very sore—possibly broken—rib. My first thought was, “If he’s willing to approach me, a woman over 50, with this level of aggression, how much worse could it be for a younger, less experienced woman?” I hope the encounter left him with a lesson he won’t soon forget: when a woman says no, she means it.
This experience reinforced for me why ReadyHer’s mission is so vital. It’s not just about teaching physical techniques; it’s about empowering women to set boundaries, recognize threats, and, if necessary, defend themselves. We provide the tools and confidence needed to handle these situations, ensuring that every woman can stand her ground—no matter her age or physical ability.
I share this story not to celebrate the use of force but to highlight the importance of awareness and preparedness. No one should have to endure such an encounter, but if they do, they deserve to know how to protect themselves effectively.
At ReadyHer, we’re committed to equipping women with that knowledge and confidence. Because every woman deserves to feel safe—in a pub, on the street, or anywhere else life takes her.
